A PIONEERING TECHNIQUE FOR TOTAL HIP ARTHROPLASTY (AMIS) AT “YGEIA” HOSPITAL
A new minimal invasive technique for total hip replacement known as AMIS (Anterior Minimal Invasive Surgery) is being performed by orthopaedic surgeon Tsoutsanis Athanassios MD.PhD
AMIS technique was first introduced at the University of Paris in 2001. Since then, more than 50000 cases have been performed throughout Europe, U.S.A. and Australia. While all classic approaches of total hip replacement must pass through the muscles and cut them, the AMIS approach allows atraumatic surgery without cutting any muscles or tendons.
The major advantages of this technique are:
As a result, the total benefit of AMIS technique is the preservation of all muscles which improves the quality of patient’s life by faster return to his/her daily activities.
